In April 2021, King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) announced the promotion of 32 new partners, three senior counsels and 31 counsels, and the lateral hires of two partners. The practice areas of these new partners and counsels cover cross-border mergers and acquisitions, banking & finance, domestic and overseas listing, private equity and funds, dispute resolution & litigation, debt restructuring, and intellectual property. Their capabilities and experience, combined with their keen innovation desires and pioneering initiatives, will further consolidate our leading edge in these areas.

These partner promotions have gone through internal procedures and will be registered with the Bureau of Justice in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Grace Fan, International Partner, Corporate (Beijing)

Grace Fan practises in a wide range of sectors, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, project development and financing, regulation and compliance, international arbitration and private equity investment in energy and resources, financial institutions, shipping and marine engineering, as well as EPC infrastructure projects. Before joining KWM, she worked in the New York, Washington, D.C. and Beijing offices of renowned international firms for many years. In recent years, Grace has advised large Chinese SOE clients on their transactions in Americas, Southeast Asia, Russia and Central Asia (especially Kazakhstan). She has also helped Chinese energy and natural resources clients with legal matters throughout their operational chain, including settlement negotiations on equity interest and profit allocation disputes and development of global compliance programs.

Tang Jianjun, Partner, Intellectual Property (Suzhou)

Mr. Tang specialises in intellectual property litigation, especially dispute resolution in trademark and unfair competition. With nearly 30 years of extensive experience in intellectual property matters, he has expertise in a full range of legal services including brand protection strategy planning, domestic and international trademark registration, trademark management, trademark exercise, trademark civil and administrative litigation, copyright and domain name registration and dispute resolution, and anti-unfair competition. He has assisted a large number of organisations in developing trademark layout and protection strategy and resolving intellectual property disputes over, among others, trademark grant and confirmation, trademark infringement, unfair competition and new plant variety rights, covering a broad spectrum of areas including fast moving consumer goods, electronics, education, retail, biopharmaceuticals, the Internet, regional public brand protection, and protection of geographical indications.
