KWM International Partner Seagull Song discusses Chinese AI legislation landscape during 9th WIPO Conversation

KWM International Partner Seagull Song was invited to speak as a panelist on March 14 at the 9th WIPO Conversation on “Training the Machines: Bytes, Rights and the Copyright Conundrum” hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization, to discuss Chinese AI legislation landscape. Dr. Song briefly introduced the current legal landscape of AI legislation in China, the IP related challenges such as the copyrightability of AIGC output, the copyright infringement risks associated with training data and AIGC outpupt, etc. In the end, she also discussed two recent highly-profiled Chinese AIGC cases that triggered mixed reactions among the public. 

The other co-panelists also introduced the AI legislations in EU which was just passed on March 13, 2024, the U.S., Singapore and also the WIPO Guidelines on AI governance.
