In May 2022, King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) announced 20 partner promotions and 36 counsel promotions and welcomed several lateral counsel hires. These new partners and counsels will carry out KWM culture and grow up with the firm. They will provide excellent legal services in the fields of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, securities and capital markets, dispute resolution and litigation, debt restructuring, intellectual property, new energy, and healthcare and pharmaceuticals. They will vitalize and drive the development of the firm.
These partner promotions have gone through internal procedures and will be registered with the Bureau of Justice in accordance with the relevant regulations.

John Ma, Intellectual Property
John Ma assists issues intertwining between IP and technology trade, including monetization of intellectual property, compliance and protection of intellectual property, commercialization of scientific and technological achievements and the management of intellectual property. He has extensive experience in the utilization of sophisticated databases and strategies to provide patent and non-patent literature analytics. He uses patent analytics to advise on R&D roadmap, IP management policy, prosecution and portfolio strategies. Mr. Ma joined Shanghai office in February 2022.
Counsels Song Jun, Sun Jingfang and Jie Yinghan have also joined Beijing Dispute Resolution Group and Guangzhou Corporate Group respectively.
