Practice Areas
Zhang Yi primarily focuses his practice on private equity funds, domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and capital markets.
He currently serves in various public and professional roles, including a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), a member of the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the National Committee of the CPPCC, an entrepreneur member of the Chinese Economists 50 Forum (CE50), an advisor of the China Finance 40 Forum (CF40), a deputy to the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Changning District Committee, President of the Shanghai New Social Stratum Association, Vice President of the Shanghai Youth Intellectuals Friendship Association, an expert for decision-making consultation to the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, an arbitrator of the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, a member of the Dean's Advisory Council and the Asia Advisory Board of Stanford Law School, and Executive Chair of Hua Jing Society in Hong Kong.
Mr. Zhang was recognised as a National Outstanding Lawyer and has served as one of the first legal advisors to the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government.
Work Experience
Mr. Zhang received his LL.M. from Stanford Law School and an EMBA degree from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. He is qualified to practice law in the PRC and in New York State, the United States. He is also a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong. He holds the Class I Lawyer title (Senior Professional Rank).
He is proficient in Chinese and English.
