Prudence specialises in managing and resolving major project disputes. She provides advice and support to clients operating in the energy, resources and mining sectors, in addition to the building, construction and infrastructure industry.

Pru has acted for contractors, consultants and principals alike in relation to a variety of claims ranging from design errors, defects and latent conditions, to variations, delay and disruption, prolongation and acceleration. She also has experience with insurance claim preparation for material damage claims, as well as the negotiation of terms relating to insurance products and provisions, and has advised on disputes with various insurance claim overlays (under material damage, advance loss of profit and professional indemnity policies).

Pru’s experience includes acting for clients in respect of the following matters:

  • Global construction contractor in Singaporean-seated SIAC arbitral proceedings against a principal, claiming costs arising from being terminated for convenience in relation to an iron ore processing plant project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
  • Australian mining company in relation to contractor disputes arising from design, procurement, construction and commissioning of plant for a gold and copper mine in South Australia.
  • Mining services contractor in Queensland Supreme Court proceedings, defending claims by a subcontractor for wrongful termination and repudiation of a subcontract on the QCLNG project.
  • Major oil and gas supplier in relation to upstream and downstream claims concerning a major gas plant upgrade in Victoria, including subsequent proceedings commenced in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
  • Australian construction contractor JV in domestic arbitral proceedings arising from the design and construction of a major road upgrade project in South Australia, including significant rectification and prolongation cost claims as a result of design errors.
  • International insurance company in Queensland Supreme Court proceeding regarding a disputed insurance claim arising from an incident at the Callide Power Station.

Pru has extensive experience assisting clients with contract administration, claims management and ADR processes prior to formal proceedings, as well as acting for clients in Australian Court proceedings and domestic and international arbitrations.
