Mr. Ma Jie specializes in Dispute Resolution & Litigation.

Mr. Ma has solid theoretical knowledge and steady performance when appearing in court, and he is familiar with non-litigation matters related to finance and securities. Mr. Ma is skilled at discovering and categorizing evidence, analyzing legal relations, and properly solving complex commercial disputes in both litigation and non-litigation cases.When dealing with confrontational, multiple-party-involved cases in particular, he is able to render incisive analysis and effective solutions. 

Mr. Ma has led a good number of challenging high-value dispute resolution cases, taking charge of drafting, planning and implementing case schemes. As he has a profound knowledge of the mindset and operations of the arbitral institutions and procedures of the court, he is capable of providing constructive and practical dispute resolution solutions. In recent years, he has successfully undertaken a series of cases of trial of first and second instance before the Supreme People's Court and local Higher People's Courts, in such areas as capital management, bonds, margin trading and short-selling transactions, equity, construction and engineering, and foreign-related disputes.

Mr. Ma has done extensive research on new types of cases. In the first gameplay infringement case of an online game in China, his client was awarded tens of millions of RMB compensation in the final judgement with his help, the maximum among the effective judgements of the kind in China at the time. Additionally, he has significant experience and insights in advising startups on their development, investment, and M&A, providing several enterprises with legal services.

Mr. Ma is now an arbitrator at Suzhou Arbitration Commission.

Work Experience

Before his joining King & Wood Mallesons in 2020, Mr. Ma was a senior partner at Justwin Law Firm in Jiangsu province.

He obtained his LL.B. from the School of Law, Soochow University in 2002 and was admitted to practice law in China in 2004.
