Daryl is a partner in the Technology Law team in KWM’s M&A group. He is a cross-border technology and data lawyer, having practised for over 18 years across Asia, Middle East, Europe and Africa. He now based in Singapore and focuses on Asia. This global experience provides Daryl with a unique perspective when advising investors, operators and corporates on digital infrastructure transactions and projects (including relating to data centres, fibre, subsea cable, satellite and connectivity), complex commercial arrangements, technology and telecom M&A, policy and regulation.
Daryl also advises on data, privacy, digital regulation and the development and implementation of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

- Telstra: restructure of the Telstra Group, including the establishment of its infrastructure business, Telstra InfraCo
- Global technology giant: market entry and regulatory advice in relation to significant network infrastructure investments in Asia
- Telkomsel: procurement of core network infrastructure, IT systems, power, services and support for their operations in Indonesia
- Verizon: sale and leaseback of its duct network in Singapore
- Various bidders: to acquire data centres and data centre platforms in Australia and across the APAC region
- Telefónica Group: £31 billion merger of Telefónica Group’s UK business with Liberty Global’s UK business to create Virgin Media O2
- Inligo Networks: structuring, financing and delivery of the ACC-1 subsea cable and associated subsea and terrestrial cable networks
- Infracapital: acquisition of 50% of SSE Telecom, the telecommunications division of SSE Ltd, the FTSE listed energy provide in the UK
- UK Department for Digital, Media, Culture & Sport: Lead lawyer to a programme to develop testbeds and trials of 5G technologies and business cases for the wider deployment of 5G, including advice on programme design and strategy, grants and public procurements, State aid and telecoms regulation
- Cellnex Telecom: £2 billion purchase of Arqiva’s telecom tower business in the UK, covering c.7000 sites, along with long term and mutual access arrangements for Cellnex and Arqiva
- Network Rail: structuring a transaction to upgrade and commercialise its substantial but largely captive fixed (fibre and copper) and mobile telecommunications assets
- Superloop: construction of a fibre ring in Hong Kong by PCCWG and leaseback of fibres to Superloop. Sale to Vocus of its dark fibre network on the East coast of Australia, with a 15 year leaseback arrangement
