Commissions & Inquiries

Facing an investigation, inquiry or increased regulatory scrutiny? Our commissions and inquiries team has you covered

In an environment of increased public scrutiny, commissions and inquiries are growing in frequency and often result in follow-on proceedings and litigation.

King & Wood Mallesons is the market leader with a demonstrated track record of successfully advising clients in response to Royal Commissions, Commissions of Inquiry, politically sensitive investigations and emergency events.  Our expertise in administrative law and policy means we understand the inner workings of inquiries.

Our experience puts us in a unique position to manage highly sensitive and complex matters attracting significant media, political, shareholder and other stakeholder attention. Our team understands the sensitivities involved and is cognisant of the unique pressures faced in conducting these matters.

We also understand best practices for managing the unique evidentiary needs of commissions and inquiries. From vast pools of documentary material, to witness statements, examinations and chain of custody processes, we have the systems and experience to ensure any inquiry has the evidence it needs when it needs it.

We have acted on all recent major inquiries, including as solicitors assisting for the politically sensitive Bushfires Royal Commission and Home Insulation Royal Commission, and had 15 mandates during the Financial Services Royal Commission. We know what to expect and can offer strategic and process insights from both sides of the fence, as well as finely honed document management skills.

With commissions and inquiries, you need an integrated team that can work hand in hand with your team, understand the sensitivities, and deliver. You get that with us.
