KWM promotes 13 to the Australian Partnership

International law firm King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) is delighted to announce the promotion of 13 lawyers as partners in Australia, effective 1 July 2022.

The promotions recognise individuals who have exceptional legal expertise, client service and leadership capabilities in areas where we are seeing opportunities for growth - including regulatory investigations, fintech, technology/data and energy.

The announcement follows the recent promotion of 22 partners globally - strengthening the firm’s leading platform in Asia.

Commenting on the 2022 promotions Chief Executive Partner Australia, Renae Lattey said:

The 2022 Australian Partners and their areas of expertise are as follows:

Daniel Bragg, Sydney (Structured Finance and Securitisation)
Daniel specialises in structured finance and securitisation transactions. With a vast amount of experience advising on the financing of a broad range of asset classes in multiple jurisdictions, Daniel acts for a wide range of clients including banks, non-bank lenders and fintech’s in relation to their structured debt programmes.

Dan Flanagan, Sydney (Acquisition Finance and Corporate Finance)

Dan is a specialist in leveraged/acquisition finance and general corporate finance. Dan acts for private equity sponsors, investment banks, banks, debt funds and listed and private corporates on domestic and cross-border financing transactions, across a range of debt products.

Natalie Halpern, Sydney (Corporate Finance and Debt Capital Markets)
Deep expertise in property finance, corporate finance and debt capital markets, Natalie specialises in advising listed and unlisted corporate treasury teams and domestic and offshore financial institutions on acquisition finance, construction finance, treasury and debt capital markets transactions and general corporate finance.

James Russell, Melbourne (Commercial Disputes)
James specialises in complex dispute resolution.  He has a broad commercial litigation practice, with a particular focus on consumer protection and regulatory litigation, class actions, and technology related disputes.  He also advises on sensitive and reputationally significant legal risk management issues and internal investigations.

Matthew Carr, Sydney (Construction Dispute Resolution)
Matthew is a construction disputes specialist who acts for a wide range of contractors, principals and consultants in construction and development disputes.  Matthew has particular expertise in large and complex infrastructure projects, large residential defect claims, complex contractual disputes concerning project delays and wrongful termination cases. 

Jasmine Forde, Brisbane (Dispute Resolution)

Jasmine has extensive experience in class actions, commissions & inquiries and regulatory investigations and prosecutions. Jasmine is adept at handling complex, large-scale commercial disputes and also regularly advises clients in relation to modern slavery and bribery, and corruption risks and compliance.

Mark Vanderneut, Sydney (Public and Private Mergers & Acquisitions)
Mark advises his clients on a range of corporate transactions including schemes of arrangement, takeovers, private M&A, joint ventures and restructures. Mark has extensive experience advising private capital clients and is a senior member of the KWM superannuation and pension fund investments practice. His sector experience includes financial services, food & agribusiness, energy & resources and industrials.

Amanda Isouard, Sydney (Equity Capital Markets)

Amanda specialises in advising on equity capital markets transactions and securities law matters.  She regularly advises both issuers and lead managers on equity capital raisings, as well clients on both public and private M&A transactions. Amanda is well known in the market as a go-to for equity capital markets transactions. 

Angela Weber, Sydney (Employee Relations and Safety)
Angela is an employment law specialist with broad experience across advisory, litigious, and transactional work.  She regularly advises on matters of strategic significance to boards and executive teams, including on senior executive employment arrangements, accountability / workplace investigations, and on employment issues associated with corporate restructurings and transactions. 

Jess Kruger, Melbourne (Commercial transactions, technology and intellectual property)
Jess is a specialist in the telecommunications sector with extensive experience advising clients on large-scale digital infrastructure projects, telecommunications regulation, infrastructure monetisation and technology procurement.

Mandy Tsang, Sydney (Insurance)
Mandy specialises in front end insurance law and has a broad practice, including insurance regulatory advice, negotiating insurance policies and advising on the insurance aspects of complex and large transactions.  Mandy has particular expertise in warranty and indemnity, directors and officers and professional indemnity insurance.

Tim Sumner, Brisbane (Government, energy, natural resources & infrastructure)
Tim advises the public sector – State and Commonwealth government departments, corporations, and regulatory agencies in relation to major projects, infrastructure, energy transition and climate change. He also advises private sector clients on transactions (M&A, project development/financing and investment funds) in the renewable energy, oil & gas, mining, water, and rail sectors.  

Judith Taylor, Sydney (Income Tax)
Judith is an income tax specialist with over 20 years’ experience in advising Australian and international clients across a broad range of industries including financial services, funds management, mining, property, health, and infrastructure. Judith has expertise in cross-border transactions, trusts and other collective investment vehicles, corporate restructures, debt and equity capital raisings, derivatives, R&D and taxation audits and disputes.
