KWM assists with the completion of Woodside’s transformation into global top 10 independent energy producer.

King & Wood Mallesons has helped Woodside Energy Group to take its place among the global top 10 independent energy producers, with the successful completion of its merger with BHP’s oil and gas business.

As a result of the merger, Woodside is the largest energy company listed on the ASX. The larger, more diversified portfolio is expected to deliver significant cash flow to help fund committed and growth projects, Woodside’s participation in the energy transition and shareholder returns.

The cross-practice KWM team was led by M&A partners Heath Lewis and David Friedlander, Projects partner Alan Murray, Technology partner Bryony Evans, Competition partners Caroline Coops and Simon Cooke, and Employment partner Ruth Rosedale, with support from Caitlin Sharp, Jessica Zuiderwijk, Gemma McMahon, Caroline Andretich, Helena Kanton and Jaspreet Nagra to name but a few.

In a demonstration of KWM’s ability to seamlessly provide international coverage, Greg Stonefield, Joe Newitt and Lauren Belmonte from KWM London led the legal advisory team that delivered Woodside’s listing on the London Stock Exchange.
