King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) advised InfraRed Capital Partners on its acquisition of a 40% equity stake in the Lal Lal Wind Farm from Macquarie Capital.

Located in the central highlands of Victoria, Lal Lal is a 228MW greenfield onshore wind farm consisting of two wind generation projects. The wind farm is currently under construction with completion expected by the second half of 2019. Upon completion, the wind farm will have capacity to generate a combined output of over 660,000 MWh annually, enough energy to power over 92,000 households.

The KWM team was led by Partner Claire Rogers, supported by Partner Dominic Bortoluzzi, Senior Associate Neena Aynsley and Associates, Paul Scott and Lachlan Fahey.

Commenting on the acquisition, Claire Rogers said; "We are proud to have supported InfraRed on this significant acquisition, which marks an important milestone for InfraRed's global energy platform in bringing InfraRed's experience in greenfield energy projects across the Americas and Europe to support the generation of clean energy in Australia."

InfraRed manages over 2GW of capacity worldwide and has been investing in Australia since 2009.
