King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has continued its streak of renewables projects, advising APA Group on the development of its 130MW Badgingarra Wind Farm project (BWF) in Western Australia.
BWF will be located adjacent to APA's 80MW Emu Downs Wind Farm and the recently announced 20MW Emu Downs Solar Farm project, creating a 230MW renewable energy precinct.
The BWF project involves a long-term offtake agreement with Alinta, an engineering, procurement and construction contract with Siemens Wind Power Pty Ltd and a long term operations and maintenance contract with Siemens Wind Power Pty Ltd.
The KWM team was led by Partners Shannon Etwell and Craig Rogers, who were supported by Senior Associate Amelia Knowles and Solicitor Nicole Wieringa.
"We are very pleased to have advised our long-term client APA Group on this milestone project," said Shannon Etwell.
KWM has acted on a significant number of recent deals in the renewable energy market, with experience across project development, project financing, acquisitions and divestments. Recent examples include the Sapphire Wind Farm, Emu Downs Solar Farm, Ararat Wind Farm, Moree Solar Farm and Lincoln Gap Wind Farm. KWM's renewables team also recently assisted QIC, on behalf of its clients the QIC Global Infrastructure Fund and the Future Fund, on the $A450 million development of the 200MW Silverton Wind Farm which was the first green field development of the $3 billion Powering Australian Renewables Fund. KWM also advised on the establishment of Palisade's Renewable Energy Fund which has a mandate to invest approximately A$500m in the Australian renewable energy market.
