King & Wood Mallesons (“KWM”) is delighted to have advised AEMO Services Limited (“ASL”) on the third tender for Long-Term Energy Service Agreements (“LTESAs”) under the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap. This tender focused on generation and long-duration storage (“LDS”) infrastructure, both of which are critical for NSW’s energy transition.
ASL together with the NSW government announced the award of contracts under Tender Round 3 for 750 MW of renewable energy generation and 524 MW of LDS.
ASL has noted that the successful projects:
- would support more than 1000 jobs in their lifetime.
- represented more than $4.2bn in total investment in NSW’s renewable energy infrastructure.
- the successful generation projects are expected to produce enough renewable energy to power over 360,000 households per year and the successful LDS projects are capable of providing enough electricity to power 725 households from a single full cycle.
The successful projects in Tender Round 3 are as follows:
Tender Round 3 built on the innovative contractual arrangements offered in Tender Round 1 and 2, which entitled successful bidders to access minimum cashflows over the term of their project. KWM assisted in the tender process and tailoring the agreements to apply generation and LSD services.
The KWM team was led by Partner Vishal Ahuja, and was supported by Jessica Kruger, Jennifer Bell, Stephen Brightman, Aaron Brooks, Anthony Di Gregorio, David Ellis, Josh Everett, Annelise Nguyen and Shaun Nolan.
