King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) was named Firm of the Year – M&A (large deal US$500m or above) at this year’s Asia Legal Awards, held in Hong Kong on 29 June.
KWM received the M&A award in recognition of the firm’s diverse and prolific portfolio of deals throughout 2021. This included KWM advising Square, Inc.’s acquisition of all the issued shares in Afterpay, which is the largest ever M&A deal in Australia valued at A$39 billion, as well as advising on a complex transaction for one of the largest petrochemical plants in China - requiring approvals from governmental agencies at municipal, provincial and central levels.
This award highlights the trust clients continue to place in the firm with a high volume of successful transactions across a wide range of industries.
