Four of King & Wood Mallesons' (KWM) summer clerks have been awarded 2018 New Colombo Plan (NCP) Scholarships, as part of a Federal Government initiative to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia.

Sydney clerks Longen Lan, Adam Silverwood and Annie Zhou, and Melbourne clerk Adam McNeill received the coveted scholarships, which will provide them the opportunity to undertake a study and internship program across the Indo-Pacific region.

KWM has been a strong supporter of the NCP initiative since 2015, offering internships to NCP scholars across Asia. Additionally, KWM's China Consultant, David Olsson, was appointed a New Colombo Plan Business Champion by Foreign Minister the Hon Julie Bishop MP in November 2016.

David Olsson said the firm is proud to have hosted 14 NCP scholars to date, with the China and Hong Kong offices set to provide further internship opportunities in 2018 and the program continually looking to expand into new areas such as Singapore.

"The NCP is supporting the next generation workforce to gain an in-depth understanding of the Indo-Pacific region and experience working with other cultures."

The Australian Government will support 120 Scholars from 33 Australian universities to study, work and live in the Indo-Pacific region in 2018 as part of the NCP initiative.
