Laura H. Luo specializes in corporate financing, mergers & acquisitions (including going private transactions), capital market transactions, and other general corporate transactions in commercial activities. 

Ms. Luo is a corporate attorney with extensive experience in representing PRC-based or PRC-originated public and private companies, underwriters, private equity and venture capital funds, as well as high-net-worth individuals in their outbound investment and economic activities.  She also has extensive experience in U.S. securities compliance and corporate governance matters. Additionally, Ms. Luo regularly conducts U.S. FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) trainings, and provides litigation support to clients involved in U.S. litigation matters. 

Ms. Luo actively promotes and participates in the PRC government’s outbound investment initiative. She was invited to serve as a special editor on the expert panel for the publication of the 2015 “Service Guide on ‘Going Global’ and ‘Belt and Road’ for Chinese Enterprises” by the Investment Association of China under the National Development and Reform Commission of the PRC.

Ms. Luo has represented clients in a broad range of industries such as pharmaceuticals, education, information technology, semiconductor, software, clean energy, insurance, agriculture, automobile, clothing and other consumer products. 

Work experience

Ms. Luo joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2017. Prior to that, she was a partner at a major international law firm. Ms. Luo worked in international firms in Silicon Valley, New York, and Shanghai.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Ms. Luo was a financial analyst and a marketing analyst at the former Westinghouse Electric Corporation, where she worked on the establishment and financial management of five major joint ventures in China, and negotiated technology agreements with various Southeast Asian countries. For her contributions, Ms. Luo was awarded the Westinghouse Total Quality Award.

Ms. Luo obtained a B.E. from Shanghai Jiaotong University, an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from Rollins College and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School. She is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and California.

Her working languages are Chinese and English.
