King & Wood Mallesons has appointed Wang Rongkang as the firm’s EUME Managing Partner to lead KWM’s strategic development, operations and integration across Europe and the Middle East. Mr. Wang takes up the position with immediate effect in London.
Wang Rongkang is currently a senior partner in investment and M&A, and a member of KWM’s International Management Committee and China Management Committee. Mr. Wang is also Chair of KWM China Finance Committee. Mr Wang was one of the founders of KWM Shenzhen office and had been acting as the Managing Partner of South China offices. Mr Wang has led the development of Shenzhen and Guangzhou offices, and the interconnectivity amongst the south China offices with other KWM regional offices.

The firm has also announced the promotion of two lawyers to its London partnership which follows the appointment of two lateral partners to the Frankfurt office last week. The four new partners in Frankfurt and London offices will further strengthen the team's client offering in corporate and securities, banking, finance, private equity and other areas in Europe and will drive cross-border collaboration between the Europe team and other offices.
The four new partners are:
Barri Mendelsohn, London: Specializing in corporate and securities, Barri acts for a broad range of clients from a variety of industry sectors and markets, including corporates, banks/financial advisers, high net worth individuals, private equity and other investment houses, real estate groups and funds on both buy-side and sell-side transactions and joint ventures. He also advises Chinese clients on their investments in the UK, Europe and Africa.
David Wilman, London: David focuses on the two complementary practices of employment and pensions law, each in a national and often in an international context. Both practice areas are inter-related. His substantive expertise is in employment transactional work, director level hiring and terminations and high-end employment related litigation, including post-termination restrictive covenants and confidentiality. David also has significant leadership experience within a multi-national environment.
Hui Zhao, Frankfurt: Hui is a corporate lawyer specializing in Chinese M&A in Germany. Hui Zhao has significant experience advising a large number of Chinese clients on their investments in Germany, and German clients on their investments into China. As a native Chinese speaker and a qualified German lawyer, Hui Zhao Is a strong addition to the KWM team and will further enhance KWM’s capability to advise on Sino-German deals on the ground in Germany.
Daniel Ehret, Frankfurt: Daniel is a finance and restructuring specialist. He has more than 10 years’ experience in advising banks and debt funds as lenders and companies as borrowers on national and cross-border acquisition financing transactions and general corporate lending. In addition, Daniel Ehret represents investors, lenders and other creditors as well as distressed companies on restructurings.
