Areas of practice

Mr. Rupert Li’s practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, strategic corporate investments, and securities transactions.

He has over 30 years of experience in the finance area and has handled numerous onshore and offshore acquisitions, investments, and listings for large-scale enterprises, including offshore investments, JV establishments, mergers and acquisitions and IPOs for state-owned companies.

Mr. Li has been nominated as one of Asia’s leading lawyers for 2008 and 2009 by ALB, and is one of their 2009 Leading 25 Asia M&A Lawyers.

Work experience

Prior to joining King & Wood Mallesons in 2010, Mr. Li had worked at international firms Morrison Foerster and Clifford Chance. As a member of Clifford Chance’s Global Partnership Council, Mr. Li was Chief Representative of the firm’s Beijing office and managed their Beijing and Hong Kong corporate and securities practice.

Mr. Li graduated from Columbia College with his B.A in English literature before attaining his JD at the University of New York.

Mr. Li is qualified to practice in the PRC and the State of California.

His working languages are English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Shanghai dialect.
