Areas of practice

Mr. Wang Maohua specializes in the electrical and electronic engineering aspect of patent protection.

He has extensive experience in a variety of areas including electric machinery, photo electricity and imaging devices, automation, automobiles, electric chemistry, mechatronics, home appliances, input and output devices for computers, and general machinery. He also provides legal services in patent application/inquiry/search, patent re-examinations and invalidations, patent infringement analyses, patent administrative and legal proceedings, investigation of patent infringements by administrative authorities, licensing and assignments of patents and know-how, and other matters related to intellectual property rights.

Mr. Wang has been recommended by IAM Patent 1000 for 2 consecutive years in 2015 and 2016. In 2016, Mr. Wang has been named as one of the IP Stars by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP), the most authoritative and comprehensive international guide in the IP industry, and ranked among WIPR (World Intellectual Property Review) Leaders.

Work experience

Mr. Wang Maohua joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2001. Prior to this, he was a patent attorney at the Patent and Trademark Law Office at the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

He obtained his B.Sc. from North China Electric Power University and his M.Sc. from the China Electric Power Research Institute. He was admitted as a Chinese patent attorney in 1994 and an attorney-at-law in 1998. Mr. Wang is proficient in English and Chinese.
